Residents asked to turn off water sprinklers Friday night through Saturday morning as work crews install new connections for a new 48 inch water main.
(Richardson, TX) – Richardson’s water utility is asking several west Richardson neighborhoods to leave their lawn sprinkler systems off from 4 p.m. Friday (March 18, 2011) to noon Saturday morning (March 19, 2011), when a T-connection for a new 48-inch water main will be installed. The installation will take place near the intersection of Custer Parkway and Renner Road.
The Public Services Department says it will top-off its water towers in the affected area to prepare for water needs while the work is in progress, but asks residents to reduce water usage in case the replacement work takes slightly longer than anticipated.
The North Texas Municipal Water District is installing a new 48 inch water main along Renner Road between Shiloh Road and Custer Parkway. The new line is replacing a 30-year old 42-inch water main that serves Richardson.
List of neighborhoods affected by the water conservation request:
Canyon Creek
Cottonwood Creek
Greenwood Hills

SEVERE WINTER WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Friday update (as of 12:15 p.m.)
(Richardson, TX) – Severe winter weather conditions continue to cause the City of Richardson to alter several municipal services. The following changes have been announced for Friday.
City Facilities
Richardson City Hall/Civic Center will be open until 5 p.m.
The following facilities are open with minimal staff but will close at 3 p.m.
The following City Facilities are closed today . . .
Solid Waste Services Collection
Due to severe winter weather conditions, residential and commercial solid waste services have been cancelled for today.
Weather permitting, solid waste service is anticipated to resume on the City's normal collection schedule starting Monday next week.
The decision on the cancellation of service is based on the surface conditions on roads, alleys, parking lots and other access points where City workers must travel to safely collect or empty receptacles. Current weather conditions have made those routes too unsafe for collection of garbage at this time.
Water Utilities
As the temperatures begin to rise, the next concern will be the potential for water main breaks and bursting pipes at Richardson homes and businesses.
City utility workers recommend you identify where to shut-off the water to your home in case you experience a break.
In addition, the City is placing additional personnel on duty this weekend to specifically help people shut off water as leaks become apparent. Residents are asked to call 972-744-4111 for assistance.
Residents are encouraged to visit the City’s website at www.cor.net for updated information on closures and alterations to City services.

Next NNA Meeting - Thurs., Sept. 2 at 7pm
Dear Neighbors:
Many of you may have seen the construction that is underway at both ends of the neighborhood along Custer. I am told that we will have those projects finished sometime next month, as they constitute one half of a four-project deal for which the construction crew has 190 days to complete. That clock started running on June 28 when construction began.
We will be discussing this and other neighborhood interests at our next NNA meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, September 2, at 7pm. Initially, we had planned to hold this meeting in August, but in working with the school’s availability, this was the earliest date that we could secure.
I hope that you have all had a safe summer, and I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
Thanks,
Zach
NNA President

NNA-Sponsored City Bond Election Presentation - THIS THURSDAY!
The City of Richardson Bond Election is just around the corner (May 8)! Before it arrives, NNA would like to make sure that our residents know what they're voting for and how their votes will affect our neighborhood. To get us all up to speed, representatives from the city will be given a special presentation to Northrich residents on Thursday, May 6 at 7p. The presentation will take place in the Northrich Elementary School cafeteria, and there will time allotted for follow-up questions following the presentation.
There has been a lot of talk (some real, some not) regarding the implications that this bond election will have on Northrich residents and their resources. Put the hearsay aside and get the facts right from the source, the City. Of course, feel free to do some homework of your own, so we can all benefit from each others' insights. You can find details regarding the bond election here: http://www.cor.net/Bond/2010Bond.aspx?id=11894.
Hope to see all of you Thursday night. Please spread the word to all of your friends and neighbors, so we can have a great turnout and even better discussion.
